Family Centered
At Schonhard Chiropractic, we believe that good health is the foundation of a happy life. As a locally owned, family-operated practice, our mission is simple: to help you live pain-free and feel better, naturally.
Dr. Eric and Dr. Ann Schonhard, a husband-and-wife team, have built their practice on compassionate care, holistic healing, and the belief that chiropractic care can help restore your body’s natural balance and vitality. With decades of combined experience, they are dedicated to providing high-quality, hands-on care that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms.
Dr. Ann and Dr. Eric met while attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Dr. Eric hails from Jackson, MI, and Dr. Ann is from Northwestern Pennsylvania.
After graduating in 1992, they both worked as associate chiropractors in Pennsylvania before deciding to return to Jackson in 1993 to open Schonhard Chiropractic. Their decision to come back to Jackson wasn’t just about starting their practice—it was about building their future and raising their family in a community they deeply appreciate. Later that same year, they were married at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church. Together, they’ve been blessed with four children: Rebecca, Marilyn, Katie, and Joey.
Dr. ERic
Dr. Eric Schonhard's journey into chiropractic care began at a young age when he experienced firsthand how chiropractic adjustments could significantly impact pain relief. In Jr. High, after suffering from intense neck pain that severely limited his range of motion, Dr. Eric was introduced to chiropractic care by his father, a patient of Dr. Ralph Hartman, a chiropractor in Jackson. After just one adjustment, Dr. Eric’s pain disappeared, and his neck mobility was fully restored. This experience sparked his passion for chiropractic care, and he’s been dedicated to helping others experience the same relief ever since.

Dr. Eric is skilled in several chiropractic techniques, each chosen for its ability to provide patients with the highest level of care and comfort. Some of the techniques he uses include:
Diversified Technique: The most common chiropractic adjustment method, uses a quick thrust to adjust joints and provide relief.
Thompson Technique: A precise technique that uses a specialized “drop table” to reduce the force needed for adjustments, prioritizing patient comfort.
Cox Flexion/Distraction Technique: An excellent alternative for treating low back pain and herniated discs, this method involves a special table that flexes and distracts to gently restore spinal alignment.
Dr. Ann
Dr. Ann’s passion for chiropractic care began on her family’s dairy farm in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Her aunt and uncle, both chiropractors, would visit and adjust the family. It was during these visits that Dr. Ann knew she wanted to pursue a career in chiropractic.
The inspiration came from Dr. Ann's grandfather, who, in the 1940s, was facing the possibility of dangerous back surgery. A family friend suggested chiropractic care, and after just a few adjustments, he was back to farming without the need for surgery. This experience led her aunt, Phoebe, to become a chiropractor, and she went on to inspire many in the family, including Dr. Ann. Dr. Ann is proud to carry on this legacy of healing and holistic care.

Dr. Ann practices a variety of gentle, effective chiropractic techniques tailored to meet each patient’s needs:
Diversified Technique: This technique involves a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust, which restores normal spinal function and often results in a gentle "popping" sound. It's a hands-on technique that doesn’t require instruments, focusing purely on the skill of the chiropractor.
Thompson Drop Technique: Known for its gentleness, this technique involves a specialized table that "drops" with the patient, allowing for less force in adjustments. The method is ideal for patients who may be sensitive to the "popping" sound commonly heard with other techniques, and it’s known for offering comfort and effective results.
Activator Technique: A low-force, gentle technique using a spring-loaded instrument that delivers precise, high-speed thrusts to adjust the spine. It's a comfortable method that works well for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, with only a small "click" heard during the adjustment.
Craniosacral Technique: A subtle, light-touch therapy aimed at improving the flow of craniosacral fluid, which nourishes the brain and spinal cord. This technique can alleviate a variety of symptoms, including headaches, vertigo, TMJ, neck pain, and sciatica. Dr. Ann often incorporates this method alongside chiropractic care for more complex cases.
